Former Lloyds Banking Group security leader to help advance measurable, threat-informed cyber defense
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – February 18, 2026 – AttackIQ®, the leading Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) platform and founding research partner of the MITRE Center for Threat-Informed Defense (CTID), today announced the appointment of Derek Whigham to its Advisory Board as Senior Advisor. In this role, Whigham will collaborate with executive leadership and product teams to help organizations modernize how they measure, validate, and continuously improve cyber defense performance amid accelerating technological change and evolving adversary behavior.
Whigham brings more than 30 years of global cybersecurity experience. Most recently, he served as Chief Product Owner within the Chief Security Office at Lloyds Banking Group, where he helped guide security strategy and operations across one of the world’s most complex financial institutions. He has also advised the MITRE Center for Threat-Informed Defense and currently serves as Research Director for AI and Quantum Computing at ISACA, contributing to industry leadership on emerging technology risk, AI governance, and long-term cyber resilience.
“Derek is a respected leader and innovator in cybersecurity,” said Carl Wright, Chief Commercial Officer at AttackIQ. “He understands firsthand the challenge of making confident security decisions in complex, fast-moving environments where measurable outcomes matter. As organizations adopt Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) to modernize their defensive operations, Derek’s experience across financial services, emerging technologies, and threat-informed defense will help accelerate our mission to deliver the clarity, validation, and operational confidence modern defenders require.”
Whigham joins AttackIQ at a pivotal moment for enterprise security leaders. Organizations are under increasing pressure to move faster, adopt AI responsibly, and demonstrate that their defenses perform against real-world attacker behavior—not theoretical models or static assessments. In his advisory role, Whigham will help shape long-term product direction, provide insight into the impact of AI and emerging technologies, and guide organizations seeking to pivot from reactive security programs to continuously validated defensive operations.
“I’ve known the AttackIQ team for years, and we share a clear belief about where cybersecurity must go,” said Whigham. “Assumptions and periodic testing are no longer sufficient. Security leaders need continuous, evidence-based proof of how their defenses will perform against real adversaries. AttackIQ is helping make that shift possible, and I’m excited to support its continued global growth.”
About AttackIQ
AttackIQ is the industry’s leading Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) platform, enabling organizations to measure true exposure, prioritize risk, and disrupt real-world attack paths. By moving beyond static vulnerability data, AttackIQ operationalizes CTEM by continuously validating exposures against real adversary behavior and defensive controls.
The platform connects vulnerabilities, configurations, identities, and detections into adversary-validated attack paths—quantifying the likelihood and potential impact of attacker movement. This evidence-based approach empowers security leaders to focus on what matters most, optimize defensive investments, and strengthen resilience through threat-informed, AI-driven security operations.
AttackIQ supports its MSSP ecosystem through its Flexible Preactive Partner Program, delivering turn-key solutions that elevate client security outcomes. The company also advances the cybersecurity community through its free, award-winning AttackIQ Academy and its founding research partnership with the MITRE Center for Threat-Informed Defense.
